The summer transfer window will be dominated by news about strikers. A lot of top clubs are looking to improve their strikeforce and a lot of talented strikers are seeing their names in lights. The latest name to be put in the hat is Javier Hernandez after the Daily Mail reported that Juventus have earmarked the Mexican as a fall-back transfer option if their ambitious plan to sign Liverpool‘s Luis Suarez falls through.

Hernandez has always been a firm favourite at Old Trafford with many fans likening his poaching ability to club legend Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. The 24 year old has 31 goals in 70 appearances in total for Manchester United; many of those coming from the bench but with him approaching his prime he must feel he’s not getting any closer to a starting berth in the North-West and a transfer move might be his only option.

Hernandez has made 15 appearances for Manchester United, but nine of those have come from the bench, with Sir Alex Ferguson preferring to use the 24-year-old as an impact player.

‘Chicarito’ has a fantastic goal record for United, and despite only starting six games this season, the Mexican international has scored eight goals, including the winning goal away at Chelsea, and two goals during an inspiring second half performance as United came from behind to beat Aston Villa away at Villa Park.

The United number 14 has shown clinical finishing this season, with a conversion rate of 26.7%, showing over a quarter of his shots have found the back of the net.

Hernandez is under contract at Old Trafford until 2016, having signed a new five-year-deal back in 2011, but the Mexican has fallen behind Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck in the pecking order at United, and a chance of more-regular first team football at Atletico might be an offer that Hernandez finds too hard to resist.
